A supposedly easy question from the Practice questions

Alex travels the 200 meters distance between points A and B in 40 seconds and the 500 meters distance between points B and C in 50 seconds.

A, B and C are in a straight line, with B and C after A and B respectively.

Quantity A
Alex’s average speed (in m/s) while traveling from point A to C

Quantity B
7.6
The solution simply takes total metres/total seconds=700/90=7.777777. But wouldn’t it make more sense if we provided the weighted average which amounts to around 8.6m/s. Or does the question has to specify if it wants the weighted average?

Of what?
