Hello, can you help me with the following question:
Hi Leaderboard,
I am sorry, I was in a hurry in uploading questions. Let me try again.
I got these questions from gregmat’s foundation quiz (Arithmetic: GRE Quant Foundation Assessment Test (Arithmetic))
For the first screen shot, I was able to narrow the choices down to 3rd and 5th choice.
x + a = b –> x = b + (-a) AND x + a = -b –> x = (-b) + (-a)
But i got stuck after this, and was not able to see correct answer for this one.
For the second screenshot, I was just not able to start solving the problem at all ![]()
Thank you!
For the first one, sketch an example on the number line.
For the second one, review the “Repeating Decimal to Fraction” video on PrepSwift.
For repeating numbers into fractions I usually do it like this: so for 3.4 repeating, I would do 10x = 34.4repeating. Why? I am trying to isolate the repeating 4 part to subtract it. I need the second part of this puzzle which is 100x = 344.4repeating. Lets put it together: 100x - 10x = 344.4repeating - 34.4 repeating. This gives us 90x = 310. Yay! So now lets get x = 310/90 and simplify into 31/9.
