Hello! Following gregmat’s 1 month prep after completing the i’m overwhelmed plan. I am on the arthimetic 3 video, about 22 minutes in, and im starting to realize i have the tools, but literally have 0 idea how or when to apply them when i need to.
In this problem i looked at the answer choices separately and started wondering what the heck would i do with each individually. I decided to multiple them each by a number to see if there was a difference, and i ran into the issue that Greg decribes in the video.
In short, how am i supposed to arrive at the realization that i should have been taking all the answer choices and multiplying them together to then find the answer? In my head, I did not connect the dots to use product of all the answers choices together to help find my final answer…
I notice I keep getting tripped up and confused about what harder questions want. I feel like i am so used to math questions just telling me what they want.
On the GRE, it feels like I have to be constantly searching through my toolkit or jerryrig something to “work” in my head…and its been rough for me.
