Hello everybody!
So I have question. I’m currently in travel in iran ; just to feel the country. My plan was to complete 100 days here which I did but for some extenuating circumstances it seems I will be stuck here till Xmas.
I don’t mind it , but here is the issue . I’ve just read in the ets website that at home test isnt available in iran
I tried to email the ets couple of days ago but no reply .
My application deadline is on 15th .
Any suggestions what might be the best course of action in this situation.
Hey, this is Meynoush! Also in Iran, but I’ve been stuck here my whole life. Lolz! Sorry for hearing about your unexpected plan change. That’s right! There’s only one country in the world that can’t take ETS’s at home tests, and that’s the Islamic republic of Iran!! Even China figured its own method to make it available for Chinese students!
There are some centers, however, for taking the test. Amir Bahador in Vali asr street is the one that I picked after searching for available centers very carefully. I’m going to leave you the link and here’s my suggestion. Go to ETS’s website and do your registration there. While you’re using your credit card, make sure you’re using a reliable VPN connection. Otherwise, your account may be banned and you’re gonna be in trouble. After your registration, once your visiting the Vali Asr Street just go and visit the center to make sure your know the address well and let them know that you’re gonna take the test there. This last step is just for familiarizing yourself with the center, which helps you to reduce your stress on the test’s day.

Awesome! Thank you so much that’s helpful! I honestly thought that the centers are closed down temporarily; the hotel receptionist tried to call several ones but she had no luck .
I’m going to take your advice and take the test at Amirbahador Educational Center.
Anything else I should be aware of ? Shall I bring my covid vacation card or shall I do the covid test ? Any idea ?

I can call them and ask that. Make a list of your questions and I’ll contact them ASAP, so you can make sure that there’s no problem.

Well mainly that’s the main question. Another one would be that if I can submit my id and copy of my passport as a way of identification on the day of exam ( 15th of December) ( as my orginal passport is right now with the immigration department and unfortunately won’t get it back till few days before my flight ( around 20 of decemebr, ))
Hey! I called and they said there’s no need for a PCR test nor for a vaccination cert. But you do need to have an original international ID card, like a driving license. Also, you need to bring it with you a day before test to see if there’s any problems.

I took the test this morning, I had to rush it. Because of some University applications that due today!
The institute is quite clean, easy to find and the staff were super friendly. To be honest the test was actually easier than I anticipated, I do have to work bit more on my time management .
But oh well actually still fu#ed up so badly !!
I was solving the quant sec then I kept pressing " continue " cus I wanted to solve the data graph questions. . I’m usually quite good at those .

I didn’t realize that I went pass through the graphs .and Submited the whole quant sec . !!!
6questions were only solved at that point.

I realized at that moment , that I didn’t just miss the quant section, I actually fucked up the whole gre cus the section I was solving didn’t look like it is an experimental one . Not only that I’m actually going to miss the deadline to submit my application which is today , which mean I will have to wait for a year to submit my application.
I loathe myself!
Surly when that happened my ego prevented me to ask for help , I thought to myself i don’t think any gre test taker have ever made such a stupid mistake.
I went through the next section without reading the questions cuz at the point all I wanted to do is just to pretend I’m doing the exam then leave. Which I did.
God i loathe myself!!!
