hello. i usually get dumbfounded when i come across weird geometry shapes and my mind seems to block up. how can i overcome this
Can you please provide a few examples so that I can better assist you?
maybe something like this? i assumed that since OP=OQ and PR = QS, it must be that OR=OS. But then I went wrong in assuming PQ is equally divided among the 4 segments. So how do you tackle these and how do you solve
Try separating the 2 shapes (into a circle and an equilateral triangle)
But make sure that the dimensions are properly labelled for each of the shapes.
Try to simplify both the shapes individually, based on the common information/side lengths/angles etc.
And then combine that for the entire shape.
Note: One thing to always remember, that the figure might be drawn in a certain way to confuse you (in this case making it look like OR=RP) but never ever assume the figure to scale.
Unless it is explicitly mentioned, you cannot assume the look of the shape to be true, and the length be corresponding to the image.
The advice you’ve gotten so far is about the symptom.
I would think about the causes of that symptom: weak geometry foundation, lack of experience with geometry questions, and lack of analysis of ETS questions to find the quickest way to do them.
how do you suggest i improve upon them?
Respect our time and energy by postings your very best effort at a plan first.
i have gone through the ets questions and worked on my geometry foundation. but i still struggle with these, my mind goes blank. i am currently working on my strategies if i can get some help out of it for such type of questions
watch this video, take notes, and see if you can come up with a better plan - right now, you don’t have one.
