I have trouble understanding what “perspective” means in this sentence. I assume it is not the same as “opinion” like in the sentence “From my perspective, blah blah”
Also, what does that mean by “diminished by the perspective?” Hope someone can help explaining the meaning behind this
Hey, so this sentence is basically saying that the painting was not as small as it appeared to be. It was just “diminished” by the standpoint or the view(perspective) of the chapel.

Is it the same as saying because of the location where the painting hanging, people did not see its real size - meaning it is larger than how people perceive it?
It has nothing to do with how the painting being painted right? E.g. Some painting techniques being used to purposefully make it appeared to be smaller but in actually it’s bigger
No it has nothing to do with how it is painted. The sentence is talking about the location where the painting is hanging. If you google the word perspective, you’ll get a clearer idea. I’m sure “standpoint” or “angle” will be listed as one of the synonym.
