i have a doubt in this question
i chose E. my logic was that there is “a Blank and resistant to analysis”… the word - “and” shows hints that the two sides to the “and” have to say the same thing… if something is resistant to analysis… i guessed the word in the blank as “Rigid”. Clearly my answer is incorrect as OA is B.
and also since the first part of the sentence is “negative” and the word “yet” shows a contrast… then the second idea after “Yet” is positive…
this was my logic… can you please help me with where i missed this question

The first blank points to the changes of fashion and public taste. With the word and, you can guess that the first blank should be negative as the resistant to analysis is a negative idea in this context.
Either side of the and should convey the same idea with respect to the context of the sentence. In this sentence’s context, it would not make sense for change of fashion to be permanent and resistant to analysis, as something that is resistant to analysis would not be permanent. If a change of fashion and public taste is resistant to analysis then it would not last long, hence ephemeral will the best choice.
