Big Book Practise - Text Completion Test 14 - Day 1Q6

There is a paradox - that’s a contrast
excessive denials of the worth of early works
I connected with the idea that he is denying money for her “early works” so she can become quite over confident about them?
or, she wants more money and that’s why she is denying the money offered on her ealy works
saw the options couldn’t relate much
Then, Paradox is contrast, her excessive denials - is negative, blank should be postive
a) reflective is neutral
c) & e) negative so ruled out
b) & d) are positive
I ended up choosing d) as my prediction was “over confident” → that I connected with encouragement..
My answer is wrong, It’s B)
not sure of the approach here!

“denials of the worth” means she is denying they are good. So a better opposite of that would be something like “saying they are good” i.e. enamored of.
