Can someone please explain the following question?
In their preface, the collection’s editors plead that
certain of the important articles they ------- were
published too recently for inclusion, but in the case
of many such articles, this ------- is not valid.
A. discussed . . replacement
B. omitted … excuse
C. revised … clarification
D. disparaged … justification
E. ignored … endorsement
I assumed the correct answer is A because it says the articles were published recently.
Ohhh, I get it now! “published too recently for inclusion”! It means probably the editors didn’t have access to these articles or something when they were publishing.
