Divide the sentence before and after semicolon
The first sentence in itself has a contrast with word “without” something(promise) trust is ____________
So something like broken would suit better and in second half we have “even though” (contrast)
So even though confidentiality is precious sometimes willingness is required to ____________ it. So better word would be abandon or don’t follow it so sacrifice fits the best

@prakithgre

please explain it too as per convenience :slight_smile:

If it helps, what I did for this is;

‘Whereas’ suggests a contrast between what Vasari and Aesthetes saw the painting as.

For blank 1, Original+Wonderful adjectives have been used, this allows me eliminate - [Ax, Dx].
Collaborative - no evidence, mechanical - A painting mechanical?, irrelevant.
Then, I read the supporting sentence ‘the reproduction…’. suggesting the painting was very close to life; realistic. Thus, [Bx - historical] can be eliminated, no evidence.

[C and E left]

Coming to blank 2;
Vasari saw it as great, but aesthetes did not (‘whereas…the’)…Maybe they though it was like a puzzle? (Required deciphering)

Illusion is ‘appearing to be true’, not relevant to ‘puzzle’ (confuse). Also, I think if something is an illusion, you are ‘thinking’ it to be real, you won’t decipher it.

Thus, [Ex]

C is the answer.

TBH I didn’t know ‘Hieroglyph’, I just checked the def - ‘a secret or incomprehensible symbol.’
So it indeed fits quite well, at least better than (E).
