My logic: I tried using the math strategy on this one wherein “Although” is a contrast. I see “although” being the contrast word for both blank 1 and blank 2.

  1. wild – although – _______ ( the idea is an opposite of wild. Since it has a less before the blank, it becomes synonymous with “wild”) [Though I did end up selecting “poised” because I didn’t know the meaning and assumed it had something to do with “aggression”]

  2. easier to study – although – _______ (Dunno if I made a story here but since I couldn’t find a single word to contrast, I thought something easier to study is not giving the full picture and hence “affected/disrupted” their normal behavior)

Have I used the strategy properly? Thank you!

“Although” is the operator for only second blank, it connects sentence 1 and 2.
“And” is the operator for the first blank
less ___ | and (support) | easier to study
The answer would be something like wild, aggressive, etc
Because a less wild or aggressive animal is easier to study
