For the below question, my guess for the blank is was the second sentence itself. I understood that I needed to find the option that meant ‘We no longer feel that it can solve our emotional problems’. Also, the first line says that ‘tendency of our culture’ which to me meant that this is recurring pattern. Though I do know that in second line it specifically says ‘we no longer’ meaning that it was previously believed. With these clues, I went with option A.
We have a tendency of moving away from belief of ‘pyschoanalysis’. ‘Divergence’ is supported by ‘we no longer’ and ‘belief’ the same second sentence.
Can you please help me figure out where did I go wrong and how would you approach this problem?
The problem with A though is that, divergent = disagreement, which means we need the idea of discord or disagreement between group(s). We have no evidence of that though.
Ohh! makes sense. ‘Our culture’ as a whole, not part of our culture which would lead to disagreement.
Got it! Thank You!
Do you have any advice that I can work on for last 2 days before my test (22 Sep)?
I have observed that the doubts I have, the analysis is somewhat there but I completely miss selecting the correct answer.
Do not do new questions esp those that will demotivate you.
Focus on your notes/error log and strategies. Try to understand why you pick wrong and how to pick the right answer(s) on test day.
Be clear on exactly what your routine on test day should be so you’re not surprised by much.
On test day, “warm” your brain with few easy questions (5 each for quant and verbal) and some light vocab before the exam. Do not exhaust brainpower here. Just something “light” to prime it for actual exam. You can redo questions from your error log for example.
You know yourself best, so make sure to be in an optimum test taking state/mood before and during test day.
The exam is mentally exhausting, so getting enough/Quality sleep and eating well can go a long way.
