Big Book Test 4 Section 1 TC Question

I was going through Greg’s test 4 TC walkthrough and for this question he chose “unbiased” for blank 1 and “flawed” for blank 2. Isn’t this using outside knowledge that scientists are “unbiased”?

I don’t understand how we can conclude “unbiased” and “flawed” by taking evidence from the question itself.

My thought process for this question was:

Blank 1:
“Though” indicates contrast so the phrase “scientists are no different from anyone else” and “science is imagined as a ___ exploration of external reality” should contrast each other. Since “scientists are no different from anyone else”, that means they are same as others so I put “different” (opp of same) in the first blank.

Blank 2:
“:” indicates support so the phrase before “:” must support the phrase after the semi colon. Idea before the semi colon says scientists are same as other people so I put “same as other” in the second blank.

Hi! ‘Though’ suggests a contrast with the two blanks, not the ideas.
First idea: Science (not scientists) is often an objective/unbiased exploration of external reality. I don’t think that’s outside knowledge. ‘Neutral’ and ‘disinterested’ work for blank 1.
Second idea: Scientists, like everyone else, are human beings. ‘Passionate’ and ‘Vulnerable’ work for blank 2.
Hope this helps!

I find that guessing Vulnerable for blank ii is a little overkill ? I mean neutral v/s vulnerable doesn’t strike to me as opposites

yeah, ‘vulnerable’ is a bit of a reach
