Hi there.
Could someone explain the meaning of the sentence? I have seen the old GRE walkthrough for test 5 but I am unable to understand what does the phrase “to make their ready ovations meaningless as an indicator of the quality…” means.
Why is Broadway audience making its ovations meaningless? What does that indicate?
Hi, the question in quite difficult to comprehend.
As far as I understand, the concept of whole question is that: The audiences have become so used to the poor quality or bad quality productions that they are eagerly ready to hold their desire to give praise to those productions and that indicates the poor quality of productions that are presented to them.
After the 1st blank the words and so show that first idea and second idea support each other.
I hope you get my point.
ovations generally indicates that something is really good (For eg: people giving standing ovations after a good movie/play) but the questions is saying that we can’t use ovations now as a measure of quality because the Broadway audience have become inured to ______ i.e. the idea that the sentence is trying to convey is " over time, they have become desensitized to a lower quality of productions, and so they may no longer be able to recognize or respond appropriately to a truly exceptional one."
accha…now I get it. Thanks.
