I was able to eliminate all except C & D. Got it down to a 50/50. Ended up choosing D but the correct answer is C. How is C the correct answer?

For the first blank, if is the logical word that supports two ideas. From that, I guessed “immoral” in the first blank.
For the second blank, the semicolon again supports two ideas, and mentioned “they lack energy” so my semantic guess is “lazy”. Then I chose C.
