Big Book Verbal Test 7 Section 2 Question 22

Hi Greg/Guys,
I was solving RC questions from the Old GRE and got question 22 of Section 2 In Test 7(Page 279) incorrect.

Question : Which of the following statements about the formation of the Black heritage of folklore, music, and religious expression is best supported by the information presented in the passage?

I did see Greg’s old GRE walkthrough solution. However, I still have a doubt regarding the explanation provided in the video.

I am primarily finding it difficult to choose between Option A and Option D.

Option A: The heritage was formed primarily out of the experiences of those slaves who attempted to preserve the stability of their families.

Lines 32-39 indicate that the monogamy of the black family was crucial to preserve and transmit the culture to the next generation. Further Lines 24-26 indicate the strong preference for monogamy. Clubbing the two points together, I came to the conclusion that the people with family stability (Monogamy) primarily helped build the heritage

Option D: The heritage was not formed out of the experiences of only a single generation of slaves.

Lines 35-39 indicate that the heritage was transmitted from one generation to the next

I found it hard to eliminate an answer choice and guessed A. Could you please guide me on where I’m probably going wrong?

Thank You!

@gregmat @admin_gregmat could you please help me with my query? Thank You!

Although , the passage did support that monogamy played a key role in preserving black-heritage, it is no-where mentioned that it was the primary reason. - Good Trap Setup by ETS
