BigBook Quant Test 2 Q 15 and 26

I don’t see these questions in the Gregmat walkthrough videos.

If anyone could walk me through the solutions for these two questions, that’d be great!

  1. Draw a number line with 5 and 15 and then split the distance between them in the ratio 2:1

  2. Exterior angle theorem

Can you explain in more detail please?

Could you attempt to do the question with my hint? It’s easier for me to give you the answer too, but you’ll learn less than actively trying to do it yourself with little hints.

For Q 15, I managed to solve it by filling the triangle with 180-z and x and y to find y.

But what did you mean by the exterior angle theorem? I dont understand how you would apply that here.

By vertical angles, you have that dark blue = x. Now through exterior angle theorem, you have that y + x = z, which suggests that y = z - x.

Alternatively, you could also note that your two quantities are:

A) z - x
B) y

If you add x to both quantities then you get our equality above

For Q.26,
X is 11 2/3
