Block of Four In Reading Inference question

I tried using the Block of Four strategy in the long passage. For example I read the Big Book passage about Herbivores and Prey and wrote this table:

Type Food Source Adrenaline Impact Emotion
Predator Carnivore Aggression Hunting
Prey Herbivore Fear Chary

But then the question asked me to contrast between “intelligent animals” (mammals in the passage) and “less intelligent animals”

I was able to solve this but only after reading the question and my earlier work was “wasted”.

Are we supposed to read the question in advance? I understand how the BoF helps but what I don’t understand how to figure out which contrast to work on before reading the question.

Yes. Ideally you should skim the question first and identify the Question Type.
