So I gave pp1 for the 2nd time after about 3 months; i gave it because I wanted to practice and did not remember any questions.
My score is okay, however I do have a question about how the total score is calculated.
In the quant section, the first section, I got 19 and the second I got 13…so should that make my quant score = 130+19+13= 162?
Since I did well in the first section, there shouldn’t be any reason to give me a penalty too.
So I was just wondering if I am missing out on something with regards to the score calculation
Thanks!
No, the PP1 curve is harsher.
I’m not sure I understand…could you please explain?
PP1 and PP2 are easier, which means that ETS compensates by not giving bonus (or giving a penalty, as in your case).
This wouldn’t happen on the real test.
Ohh alright, I got it now…
So how do I understand my performance? If pp1 and 2 are easier, then I should expect a slightly set of questions on the actual GRE…and my score…?
I had the assumption that this would be the most appropriate measure of how I would do on the actual GRE.
You can use the score as-is. In the real test, the questions would be a bit harder, which means that you’re likely to get less right (so instead of 19/13, you may get 17/11). This time, there’ll be a bonus applied, making your raw 158 a 160. The score is the same either way.
