Can someone point out why my answer is wrong?

Hey
I had a question regarding a particular question. Specifically q7 section 1 test 1 from the big book
The actual ____ of Wilsons position was always ___ by his refusal to compromise after having initially agreed to negotiate a settlement

Why doesnt outcome/foreshadow make sense?
My logic for that answer choice was , that the second half of the sentence actually talks about the result of Wilson’s position (hence outcome)
And the foreshadowed comes from the word initially
Like the actual result of his position could be predicted by his refusal to compromise
And it can be interpreted as a pattern in Wilson’s behavior because of the word always

No, foreshadow doesn’t work. Foreshadow means prediction. There is no evidence of prediction. Autgor gave info on action event tgat happened but not what might have happened, hence foreshadow is wrong
