Common Unit Conversions (Metric Conversions)

Hello, I am currently studying the distance, relative speed, and work/rate problems, and have found that I am grossly unfamiliar with the common unit conversions we are expected to have memorized. Does anyone have any relevant material or a dedicated video that will help me review and memorize those basics? I mainly struggle with the km, m, cm, L, mL, etc… type conversions.

Also, I read somewhere that the GRE does not use 52 weeks/yr, and instead go by 52.14wk/yr. Is that correct?

Anything will help, thank you!!

We don’t have a dedicated page or video here on GregMAT, though we probably should.

See something like Khan Academy and Khan Academy instead.

Note that you are only expected to know common metric conversions, so not

  • less-used conversions (eg micrometres, picometres or decimetres, or converting between cubic metres and litres)
  • Imperial/USC units (eg inch, foot, mile)
  • converting between metric and non-metric units

For all such problems involving such units, the necessary conversions will be provided already.

The GRE normally uses “365 days/year” (so 52.14 → 52 \frac{1}{7} weeks/year, which is not something the GRE tends to use) but this is not something you’re expected to worry about. If it does matter for any reason, this will be directly specified in the question.
