Confused about solution to question

Hi

I am confused about the solution – how do you figure out how many parts there are? i.e., where did the 3 parts come from and how is it a total of 5 parts?

also – how is 1/6 divided by 5 = 1/30?

AB and CD each represent one part. We are told that BC is three times greater than AB, which means that BC has three “parts”. Hence, we have a total of 1 + 1 + 3 = 5 parts.

Regarding your second question:

\frac{1}{6} \div 5 = \frac{1}{6} \times \frac{1}{5} = \frac{1}{30}

That made sense, thank you!!
