Confusion about Support/Contrast example

Hi, the below is a question from “Support/Contrast in TC Questions - 1” class. I don’t think I clearly understood the explanation given about the support/contrast choices by Greg and why “Whereas” was rejected.

Using “reproduction of a natural object” as a “difficult feat” felt like story telling to me which is why I had rejected trying to make sense of “reproduction of a natural object” as a whole in the beginning. I thought that was a good choice since I’m avoiding a bad habit but turns out it wasn’t the case. Secondly, I thought “Whereas” made sense as a contrast because something that needs “deciphering” and something that is “natural” (more like intuitive) felt opposites to me.

Can someone help make the choices taken in the video a bit clearer?

If we break down this sentence, we can see that there are 4 ideas.:

  1. Green and Blue support each other
  2. Orange and Pink support each other
  3. Green and Orange contrast each other

The contrast from the whereas doesn’t help very much here because the 2 blanks are talking about different things.

  1. Blank 1 describes the nature of the task of creating ML
  2. Blank 2 describes how the art itself was perceived.

So for B1 we should instead use the support from the blue idea, since its talking about the task itself. We can eliminate “collaborative”, “historical”, and “mechanical” for no evidence.

Once we figure out B2, then it becomes clear what is the correct answer.
