Hello everyone this is a rounding off problem.
The given answer is A. Considered 5,6,7,8,9 for values of x
But I think X=4 is also fine right?
12.1549 rounded to 2 decimal places transitions as follows:
12.1549 -> 12.155 -> 12.16.
I think the values of x should be between 4 and 8 (both included). Making the answer D.
So just wanted clarity on this one.

This is from ETS Maths Conventions book
The thing is you don’t round off twice, so you can’t go:
12.1549 -> 12.155 -> 12.16
If you have to round off to the hundredths, you have to look at the number that terminates at the hundredth position and is the closest to 12.1549
The difference between 12.15 and our number is 0.49
The difference between 12.16 and our number is 0.51
Therefore 12.1549 can’t be rounded off to 12.16, as it is closer to 12.15
The rule that you have given from ETS is only applicable if the number halfway between the two, therefore you are correct in saying that 12.155 rounds off to 12.16
But 12.1549 is not equal to 12.155
So don’t round off twice

Thanks for this. I’ll remember not to round off twice?
