So this passage talks about widely held assumption on the role of automation and technology that played its part in woman’s life….
Earlier I thought, It was informational; but then in last para, I think author is sharing his opinion, “Mechanization may even have slowed any change in the tradi tional position 'of women both in the labor market and in the home.” that is in contrast with widely held assumption.
Am I correct?
