Determining support/contrast in TC sentence

Hey!

I was going through this video, and there is a question at 29:00. I was able to get the support and contract part, but while guessing the possible words to fill the blanks, my idea was a little different than what Greg tells later on in the video. Blank (ii) should be the opposite of hiding important differences, for which my guess was the word ‘transparent’ while Greg suggests it should be ‘different’. I’m not sure if my analysis is wrong because both words give a difference sense to the sentence.

Help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey, so here the logic is that blank should be the opposite of the whole idea in the right part of the blank which is " advertisements often hide important difference behind smoke screens", so simplifying this segment the meaning becomes that advertisements make the candidates appear similar(by hiding differences), and by contrast now we can guess that candidates must not be similar
Hope this helps

Ahh I get your point. It makes sense now.
Thanks for the help.
