Devastated after my GRE exam

I completed the two month course on the website and gave the test on the 30th of November only to get a 312 (162V and 150Q). I am quite devastated by this because I followed the course very diligently.

For context, my PP1 and PPP3 scores were 329 and 326 respectively. On average, I would get around 80% of the questions right on whatever quizzes I took through the course (foundational quizzes, flashcard quizzes, official guide practice tests, quant guide mixed tests, Big Book tests, 5lb. book tests).

I am waiting for the diagnostic report to better understand where I went wrong. But I would really appreciate being able to speak to someone at gregmat as well. I quit my job to do the course and studied for 10-12 hours every single day (no breaks apart from a three day period where I had to go for a wedding. Even then made sure to do the quant and vocab mountains each day).

I would also like some advice on retaking the test. I watched the video about retaking, and while I can understand that it isn’t sensible to expect a 10-20 point increase if my score was consistently at a 310, I don’t understand how it can fall by so much when there wasn’t much indication of that happening prior.

Would really appreciate some help from you. I am feeling very disappointed and lost after all this work.

For Quant, start by understanding the imporant factors needed for a good quant score:

Watch the following video (1.5x speed if you want):

Next, let’s start by assessing yourself on the first key (Foundation):

Take the following quizzes:
Arithmetic: https://forms.gle/1yNWtpatymwLQFDN7
Algebra: https://forms.gle/Jbe9Y3MysMZSkmR89
Coordinate Geometry: https://forms.gle/QX5NC8VzH41pema39
Geometry: https://forms.gle/9eSu7Kb27Tsrqu2r8
Data 1: http://forms.gle/8MGpxzFJRvwaxKGg7
Data 3: https://forms.gle/85PkubBzwZ3AFCNKA

You should do these untimed, slowly and carefully using paper, the only thing you can’t do is google things or look at your notes.

We can take a look at your scores in these to find some possible weaknesses in the foundation, or rule out the issues

Hi Ganesh, thanks for getting back to me. The following are my quiz scores on each of the tests -
(Arithmetic 44/50)

GRE Quant Foundation Assessment Test (Algebra) (Algera 25/36)

( Co-ordinate Geometry 34/38)

(Geometry 37/44)

(Data analysis 1 28/30)

GRE Quant Foundation Assessment Test (Data Analysis - Part 3) (Data Analysis 3 10/15)

I didn’t see a link for data analysis 2, which I guess would have included permutations and combinations. Please let me know if there is a link, and I will take that too.

I know that wrt algebra, I am not comfortable with functions. I also have some difficulty with work/rate and distance/rate problems and some of the word-to-number problems as well. Let me know what else you think I should work on. I’m planning on taking the test again around the 21st of December so I don’t have much time.

I’ve only attached links to the tests where Ive done poorly since only two links are allowed. Im not sure if you have access to the other tests through your system. My name is Sandeep Radhakrishnan in case you need it.

Thanks for your help

That’s a weird rule.

I don’t, but we just need to look at the scores.

So the first thing you want to do is fix your foundation gaps.

For each question you got wrong:

  1. Watch the relevant content on PrepSwift and do the exercise
  2. Attempt the question again and figure out why the correct answer is what it is.

After that, you want to go through each of the “Progress” and “Tickbox Quizzes” in the overwhelmed plan in the following way:

  1. Do the progress/tickbox quiz first
  2. If you score <85% on the progress quiz (< 80% on tickbox quiz), repeat the part or module again
  3. If you score above that, then just address your gaps.

After that, see this video for the next steps:
