Diagnostic Test first? or foundation first?

Hi all! I am taking my GRE on August 15 and was a little confused on when is the best time to take the diagnostic test. I am currently on week 1 day 6 of of the 2 month plan and I am still relearning and refreshing my memory on concepts I haven’t used in ages. I have seen people say to take it right away without having a refresher of the foundation or the opposite, where people suggest to go over the quant foundation first. I would appreciate advice on this as I want to study as efficient as possible.

Wow this really depends on individual. You are not alone in this question. I know some people who took it after a week of studying to know their baseline. Some who reserved it to exhaust the resources strategically.

For you, if you already know that you have not used the concept in ages. I suspect you fall into the second camp where it may make some sense to do the first test a little later and not so soon. Key thing is to use the resources with intention. Question is what is your intention?

Thank you so much for the swift response! My intention is to get a good enough score (aiming for 320+) to be able to get into a top phd or masters program for Organizational Behavior. Overall verbal is my strength in general and I have found it 10 times easier to understand and complete within the time frame. I am just worried about quant as it is looked at more for the program I am interested in.

In that case, you should invest time in sharpening your quant concepts and strategies on gregmat. Then test yourself how well can retain concepts and apply strategies. All the best!
