Do we follow the same pattern for all Argument Essays?

Do we follow the same format for all Argument essays, regardless of what the prompt demands?

For example:
1.Write a response in which you discuss one or more alternative explanations that could rival the proposed explanation and explain how your explanation(s) can plausibly account for the facts presented in the argument.

  1. Write a response in which you discuss what specific evidence is needed to evaluate the argument and explain how the evidence would weaken or strengthen the argument.

Thanks :slight_smile:

The template more or less remains the same, but some subtle changes can be made to improve the essay.

The changes are generally just within the thesis and the first line of the body paragraphs.

If we take your example 1,

[Thesis]
There are several unstated assumptions made by the author…but the witnessed outcomes may have alternate explanations not considered by the author, undermining their claims.
[Body]
The author suggests that (unstated assumption). An alternate explanation to this could be (this)

If Example 2.

The author must provide the required evidence for the following in order to effectively analyze and substantiate his or her claims.

The author while stating (this) suggests (this) but fails to provide evidence about (this - data, trend, etc.).

Basically, phrase it as per the prompt. If it’s a question, make it like a question;

The author must answer the question, is it even possible to compare the two towns? It might be possible that town A is very small.
