Does Math Strategy take precedence over Time Contrast?

Over here, we are trying to solve the question using time contrast. Taking hints from time markers such as “This new collection…”, we conclude that the poet has changed from writing a little in the past to writing a lot now. If in the 2nd blank I had the options: D] penitenial austerity E] reticence (laconic …) F] intractable prolixity, which option would we choose. I was thinking D] to still be a valid answer as it shows a contrast with poets of sunny disposition, contrast marker being “let alone for one of such”.
Do let me know if my understanding of this question is wrong.
Thank You!

So what do you think the correct answer choice would be if you used Time Contrast instead?

Imo, if we use time contrast, it should be reticence right ? As in the past the poet wrote a little

For Blank 2? Perhaps it would be, but there’s no answer choice to suggest that, right?

yup, yeah but I was looking for what would be the right answer if had both the choices as options in the question

They won’t do that, ETS are fair when doing questions, don’t worry.
