I have a problem regarding the understanding of this section of a passage shown in picture below. My question is:
Does this mean ?:
(1) Jacksonian America was not a changing society but was an equitable type where wealth was short lived.
(2) Jacksonian America was not both changing and equitable one but was the one in which wealth was short lived.
(3) Jacksonian America was not changing and equitable type of society where wealth was short lived. Instead wealth was long lasting there.
Which of the above options does this piece of passage mean? And how can we say that the author makes concession at the second passage stating that : “The society was already dominated by the rich ones” ?
