Double possibility? Semantics?

The odds that a company will thrive are ______ if any critical process is confined to a single method of operation; ______ by itself offers a significant competitive advantage.

Is it a double possibility question? I was able to identify the support and contrast. I wasn’t able to identify the semantics.

Yeah, I would say so, both ideas are incomplete (have blanks)

Possible semantics:

  1. low, multiple methods of operations (opposite of single method)
  2. high, specialization (single method)

Are these possible pairs?

Agreed!

This says that a critical process is confined to a single method of operation. This would make the first blank a negative connotation right?

Oh, good point, perhaps that IS a clue

Hey, could you help me to identify the support and contrast word for this sentence? I was able to figure out if its a double possibility but cant get the correct contrast word in this sentence

The support in the sentence is the semicolon and “if any”.
You can start by finding the ideas/pieces of the sentence.

The way I did it was:

  1. The odds that a company will thrive are ______
  2. critical process is confined to a single method of operation
  3. ______ by itself offers a significant competitive advantage.
