For the second question I thought the ans was “Novels with thematic richness should not be classified within a singular narrative lens.” because of the mention in the passage " because the multifaceted questions and challenges embedded within the text inherently defy simplistic categorization or singular interpretive lenses." but the correct ans is "
At least some literary scholars have not sought to establish a overarching interpretation for the novel." I am failing to grasp the evidence to find this ans correct , please help…
For the third question i thought the ans was “Some literary scholars currently interpreting 1984 have previously written well-regarded unifying interpretations of To Kill a Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby.” which means these novels which had thematic richness had been also classified under unifying framework and as 1984 falls under same category , so this option will weaken the assertion.
Where was I wrong? Please help me find the evidence for the ans to these questions…
The bit in the passage is about the book “1984”, not “Novels with thematic richness” in general.
It’s “has led many to attempt to situate the novel within a unifying theoretical framework”.
Where’s the third question? You’ve posted some other question underneath.
Hello! I wanted to follow up, as I had a similar question. I was wondering why it would not be proper to infer that novels with thematic richness shouldn’t be classified within a singular narrative lens? There is discussion of other novels like To Kill a Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby which have been placed in the same realm as “literary classics with deceptive narrative simplicity”. In turn, I too inferred that these novels (and other novels in general) that are in the same realm likely have thematic complexity richness and should not be classified with narrative simplicity.
How should I approach this inference question differently? I often struggle with inference questions and am thinking that maybe I am applying the wrong logic or rules to them. Thank you!
I honestly wouldn’t worry about it, I don’t think it’s a great question. I understand where you’re coming from.
I think it’s more that D is too general. The passage is about 1984 specifically, not about all novels with thematic richness, but then again it is an inference.
I would practice from the big book instead.
