I thought laugh at themselves mean belittle themselves and although is contrast so blank should be something positive .

“Comparatively few” is what you seem to be overlooking.
It changes the idea of the first part that not all rock musicians like to belittle themselves. So taking “although” as a contrast, the second idea should be opposite to the first one, thus, a hint of self-depreciation.
