Doubt in TC question from big book

Hi in this question why are we choosing univocal over congruent? Also for blank 2 suspect made more sense to me than erroneous because the sentence is talking about someone’s opinion so saying that ‘2 words having same meaning currently is wrong’ is too strong.

For the 7th question- Option looked very correct to me. In fact disinterested seems such an unlikely answer for blank 1 as science exploration doesn’t seem disinteresting to scientists right!

For the first question:
I think you are conflating the terms “mechanism” and “vitalism” to have a similar meaning, whereas the author of the statement is trying to convey that the terms independently do not have a singular meaning (math strategy: opposite of various = singular, not identical). In the second case only univocal works. Also, suspect wouldn’t be my first choice since its primary use is as a noun. And since it is the opinion of the author, the statement can be strongly worded.

For the second question:
The word disinterested also means to have no personal biases at play, and the “though” at the beginning of the sentence indicates that there should be a contrast in ideas, so option D seems to fit best.

Hope this helped!
