So I was going through the 3rd video of Sentence equivalence on 2 months plan and I didn’t really understand Greg’s explanation of this.
Could someone tell me how to approach this question
My Doubts -
How is however contrast for both Blank 1 and Blank 2
Why ‘like the past’ is the phrase for which we have to find contrast for Blank1
From Math Strategy, we see “however” which is contrast word. What is it contrasting with? In sentence 2 “however” is used to say that forecasts are “wrong”. It means sentence 1 has to say opposite of “wrong” which is forecasts are correct. Hence this way contrast is happening
I believe your question in 2 meant to find for contrast to blank 2. If it is then my above point 1 works.
OR if your question indeed was right then
If you meant how to answer blank 1, then you can see that for blank 1 it gets tough to answer blank 1 first. Its easy to answer blank 2 as we have division word and what this word is contrasting, so fill up the blank 2 first. Then as sentence 2 is contrast due to “however”, and then we can fill up blank 1 with evidence from phrase “much like past”, as second sentence makes sense for times of change(see keyword “major”, if this kind words are used, this scenario is likely not normal and means anomaly) , hence sentence 1 should say opposite of that which is “uniform” or “same”
