I have no idea about the first blank.
I got right at the second blank mainly because I know what Poe wrote.
How should I approach this sentence more logically?
the line after the comma is the support and it tells us that the ghost story is a model(best) example -->+ve idea ,hence, blank(i) should be a +ve idea too but as we got hardly infront of blank(i) which carries a -ve connotation we need to fill blank(i) with a -ve word to make the overall idea +ve. So , we fill blank(i) with something like not exemplar or bad/corrupt idea.
And blank (ii) is previously referenced as the and means blank (i) and blank(ii) carry the same idea so, we got a person Poe and the blank(ii) is about stories and the only information we got about stories is that they are a haunted genre —> So I will fill haunted in blank(ii)
