ETS Verbal Easy TC

Since I was having difficulty using the Math Strategy for the first blank, I used the elimination method to remove B & C since they portray a similar meaning. For the second blank, a reference strategy could be used (the word ‘This’) BUT can I use the elimination technique to solve it?

Tech2: Since we have no information if the subject matter is recondite or uncomplicated from the previous blanks hence the option F can be chosen?

I initially applied double possibility for the sentence, without looking at the options. Since the separator is ‘;’ meaning support, I assumed both blanks would have the same meaning. Blank (i) and (ii) could be the “main” factor/subject matter OR something like the “secondary” factor/subject matter.

Coming to the options, as you did, I eliminated B and C since they are similar, which meant “main” from above works for blank (i), and went with A) pivotal. For blank (ii), morbid seems most fitting as it is a synonym for disease which is the subject of the sentence. Moreover, from a usage point of view, D) recondite & E) uncomplicated didn’t seem fitting and lacks evidence.
