I think because you invite it, hospitable here could mean inviting to bad ideas. So, since we are vulnerable to untested theories, our times too are hospitable to bad ideas.
That is my exact query.
If we are VULNERABLE (susceptible to be harmed by) to X
why would that cause us to be inviting to X.
Like, senior citizens are vulnerable to covid19; why would that vulnerability CAUSE them to be inviting to covid?
