Exponent question

Hi guys,

New here. Just watched GregMats video on day 4 of the two month programme (‘Exponent Practice’) and a question came up and wanted to see if i’m heading down the right track.

Q:

What is the tens digit of 7^241

I understand it’s a pattern recognition problem.

7^1 = 07
7^2 = 49
7^3= 343
7^4= 2401
7^5= 16807
7^6= 117649

I find the pattern then i’m stuck. Does ^240= 4 and therefore ^241= 0? But how do you get to that in the first place?

Thanks for the help,

Sam

Try 77 and 78.
