Exponents and unit digits

Hi,

I’d appreciate some clarification on this exercise from the practice video. The way to find the unit digit of the number is to take the same pattern/unit digit of the number for which 36 is a multiple (4 in this case). But 36 is also a multiple of 2 and 3. In which case one could choose 4 or 8 as the unit digit which would apparently be wrong. So is there a soundproof method for choosing which number in a case like this?

Notice the pattern repeats every 4 numbers? Divide 36 by 4. Since there is no remainder, the 9th repetition of the 4-length pattern ended right there (on a 6).
