Hey everyone, just gave the exam this morning with unofficial scores of 163Q and 157V, which matches my mock averages lately. My goal is 328+, but after 4 months and 250 hours I’m still not able to attain my target score. What I’ve done so far:
- All of the GregMat Overwhelmed plan (twice for Quant) ; only moved on after 80+ on fundamentals quizzes in quant
- 1-month GregMat plan for Verbal
- Watched/practiced GregMat strategies from prepswift (and also watched all must-watch videos, Quant strategies series from 2025 and Vince’s latest verbal series), practiced the most common quant strategies like choosing numbers, manipulating, making deductions
- Learnt all the vocab mountain and practicing 50 words everyday with Anki (I have to say I did encounter on the exam more words I didn’t know than I expected and I usually read the FT/NYT often).
- Untimed then timed practice on GregMat (Gre mini-exams, easy/medium/hard question)
- Completed all ETS questions from the three books (verbal, quant and official guide)
- Took the 3 GregMat mocks, the 2 free PPs and the 3 paid PPPs. Somehow I was scoring 323 to 328 on the gregmat mocks but on the PPPs I was averaging 320.
- Kept Quant & Verbal error logs on ETS questions and reworked my mistakes
I did this over the last 4 months but I still was not able to reach my target 325 (and ideally a 328). I know my weakness is Verbal and I’ve been doing lots of RC and TC/SE from the Big Book since I exhausted ETS verbal Questions also focusing on what ETS wants to convey and what went wrong but it was apparently not sufficient for my target score.
Any suggestions how to proceed ? Should I stick with Gregmat questions, or do more Big Book because I exhausted all other ETS materials ? I feel like I’ve hit a ceiling in Quant so the 5+ points that I need would probably come from Verbal so is it even realistic to improve by that much in a month (I can allocate an additional 100 hours in the next 5 weeks to studying). Thanks a lot
