Fractions - Pounds

could someone pls explain this
Judy needs 8 pounds of chicken but at a market the only packages available weighed 3/4th of a pound. Find the no of packages judy needs to buy?

12 packets??

1 packet β†’ 3/4 th of pound

So, 4 packet β†’ 3/4 *4 = 3 pounds

the ans is 11

Simplifying the answer:
If 1 packet has 0.75 or 3/4 pounds, what should be the number multiplied with this decimal or fraction that will give you 8 pounds?

0.75*x=8
x= 10.66
Since you can’t buy half a packet of anything, you will need 11 packets to have 8 pounds of chicken :slight_smile:

Thank you so much

the question is asking the no . packages req. \frac{3}{4} \times x = 8, where x is no of packages , \frac{8 \times 4}{3} = x
