Hi,
Can we not take 2(2)^1/2 - 2 as underroot2?
I am getting D as an answer if I do so.
You mean
2\sqrt{2} - 2 = \sqrt{2}
Is that right?
Yes
That’s not correct.
2\sqrt{2} - 2
=2(\sqrt{2} - 1)
This is not equal to \sqrt{2}.
In particular, this is usually the case:
a\sqrt{2} - b \neq (a - b)\sqrt{2}
