General TC and SE Homework Question

Should we take the same approach shown on “Managing your time in a GRE verbal section” towards the ‘TC and SE Session’ homework assignments? I often find myself rereading and trying to understand the definitions of the responses, before using the Pairing/Math Strategies on the assignments. I felt as though I spent a considerably long time just trying to solve these questions.

How should I go about the homework assignments? Should I focus more on the Vocab? Currently on Day 5 of the two-month program

– Thanks!

You’ll be constantly be building vocab throughout your GRE journey , so, just hang in there!

If you intend to complete the two-month program, I would recommend NOT trying to fly through the SE/TC homework questions at full speed. Instead, I would recommend doing untimed practice, with a clear focus on implementing the strategy or strategies discussed that day. As you become more comfortable with those strategies, then you will naturally get faster at implementing them.

The vocab question is harder to answer without knowing where your vocab knowledge currently is. For TC, if you are able to identify a word with the correct meaning go in the blank, but simply don’t know that the correct answer choice has that meaning - that seems to be a vocab issue. However, if you can’t make a reasonable guess at what’s in the blank, so you then check the answers, then wonder if an unknown answer choice could maybe work - then that may be more of a strategy problem.

Generally I would say to follow the vocab mountain, practice the strategies, and most of all, be honest with yourself when figuring out the reason for errors in practice.
