Geometry Foundation Quiz 2 #14

I am struggling to see how Greg’s answer is correct here. I dont think that this example is valid because how can “y” be different? Plugging in numbers here, you get two different values for y. Which isnt valid. I worked out an example for refernece. Please help!

Hint: this is ASS - not a congruence criterion. You showed in your example that the areas are not equal, but they can easily be identical as well.
