Geometry question Big Book

Why is the answer D? If both sides are same, doesn’t that mean that RS<2RT. Wouldn’t that mean RS<RT?
Can anyone help?

No (hint: try RS = 3 and RT = 2)

It only says that ST = RT.

X=Z that means RT= ST
the question is asking which is bigger RT OR RS
Well if it is right triangle, and Y=90 then RS must be bigger.
However, we do not have any information supports that.
In fact, we can change little bit.
It could be that y=14 and x=86 and z= 86, in this case RT is bigger.

Answer is D

Case I-
x=y=60 => z=60
ST=RT=SR.
Case II-
x=y=45 => z=90
RT is longest.
Hence D.
