I am practicing using the Big Book and need to look for the explanations of the answers. Is there any pdf or video series for it?
If it is by GregMat, it’ll be preferable.
Okay. Thanks. So I want to ask a couple of more things:
To search a word on Google while solving the SE questions is right practice or not? Because there are times when I don’t know any word from the options.
U have mentioned in the verbal tips video to not study synonyms while learning a word but u said the opposite in ur SE Classes…so which one should I follow?
The Big book’s which tests are closer to current GRE and are there any tests which I should ignore of the big book?
I have my GRE exam on 10/11, Is it possible to learn all the words from ur list in 18 days. I have been able to learn only group 1? Could u suggest anything about this like any strategy to learn the words?
Maths problems like work-time, speed-distance, mixture-allegations appear tough to me, are they asked in GRE? The big book doesn’t even have one single question on them from test 1 to 5 so I was wondering that.
When you are just starting your prep then for first day or two it is alright but after that you need to get into the habit of coming up with your own word for the blanks after figuring out the logic.
Me ? I haven’t taught any session ; if you want to ask Greg then QandA is your best bet otherwise you can tag him here [at] gregmat
But I will give you my personal perspective and then you can ask Greg or Vince in the QandA session . For you to get high score in SE you need to know the synonyms otherwise you can’t use the pairing strategy! I think Greg might have told it keeping in mind that when people start prepping most of them don’t have a solid vocab base to begin with thus, one should first focus on memorizing the 900 word list and after that should pay attention to learning synonyms!
The closest official test that you can get to match the real GRE experience are PowerPrepPlus series! Also, personally BigBook is great for brushing up Quant fundamentals (given your timing your quant section ; 30 question in 30 min without calculator ) and Gold in-terms of content for verbal!
Yes!
Personally, I just saw the list x times a day everyday until I memorized everything from the initial list and then expanded the list as I encountered new words from other sources until the test day!

To search a word on Google while solving the SE questions is right practice or not? Because there are times when I don’t know any word from the options. This is not really about searching each individual word but rather an indication that you need to spend a lot of time improving your vocabulary from the 32-group list.
U have mentioned in the verbal tips video to not study synonyms while learning a word but u said the opposite in ur SE Classes…so which one should I follow? I would focus on simple definitions of each word for now and not worry too much about synonyms
The Big book’s which tests are closer to current GRE and are there any tests which I should ignore of the big book? The Big Book is a great resource but nothing beats the current, official material.
I have my GRE exam on 10/11, Is it possible to learn all the words from ur list in 18 days. I have been able to learn only group 1? Could u suggest anything about this like any strategy to learn the words? I would try to learn half the list, not necessarily the whole thing in only 18 days
Maths problems like work-time, speed-distance, mixture-allegations appear tough to me, are they asked in GRE? The big book doesn’t even have one single question on them from test 1 to 5 so I was wondering that. They’re asked but they’re not super common
