GRE Big Book | Test 9 Section 5 | #19 | Answer key: A) - 18

If the average (arithmetic mean) of 16, 20, and n is between 18 and 21, inclusive, what is the greatest possible value of n?

options - 18, 21, 27, 54, 63

Attempt: While attempting I only considered the first three and the greatest possible value I think should be 27 if the mean is inclusive of 21.

I’ve googled the answers as well and they direct me to option c. though, per the answer key, it is A. Why is that? where am I going wrong?

There you go. I thought the first three options were possible but the third one was the greatest CONSIDERING that statement, “18 to 21, inclusive”

The answer is C indeed, and I would recheck the book - did you look at the wrong test or section by mistake?
