Gre old book test 13, section 4, TC question doubt

Heyy can someone please help me understand the logic for this one (without looking at the answer choices what should our guess be)

Hi, i couldn’t guess both the blanks but this i how i tackled.

I first focused on the word into, it denotes support. The first blank is just describing the word acceptance so will not affect the meaning of first part. So first part is saying that the behavior is accepted but has misled so overall connotation is negative. This negative idea should be continued to second part. Negative in a way that it is misleading into something.

Second part is describing about “idea that is conflict to current belief” so the negative thing that someone believing in contrasting idea that can impose to this is completely destroyed or dismissed or replaced. So supersede is the answer. Also other choice doesn’t make sense.

Can beliefs be reliable a negative connotation?
Can beliefs be incisive?
Can it be redundant?
